…a state of chaos, a catalyst to shift us out of the chaos towards order, a reconnection with our core values, vision, purpose. Confusion as you transition back into society. You’ve completed a metamorphosis but everyone else is still caterpillars. If the transition or transformation has been significant, people don’t know how to engage you and you don’t even know how the new you works in your old life.”
- Paul Kalanithi, adapted from When Breath Becomes Air
What is the purpose of coaching?
As defined by the International Coaching Federation (ICF), Coaching is “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.”
What coaching is and isn’t:
Coaching is:
Solutions-oriented partnership
Growth by understanding of where your baseline is and sustainable movement to where you want to go
Tools, frameworks, and a lexicon to shape and experience the life of your choosing
Dedicated time to focus on what you really want
Life-long skills to identify Core Values, challenge your belief system, and evaluate what is/isn't serving you
Step-by-step action plans for achieving your goals and building sustainable habits
Coaching isn’t:
-
Therapy involves working with a mental health professional who is trained to diagnose and treat mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression and trauma. A therapist helps you heal; a coach helps you build. Many coaching clients have previously done, or are concurrently doing therapy. For more information, please reference this article from The Washington Post.
-
Coaching is a client-centric process. Mentorship is a relationship-based approach where a mentor shares personal experience in order to support development. A coach will help you navigate your own thoughts and support you building action steps that best serve your personal objectives.
-
Coaching requires the client to do the steps and make the changes and apply learnings. Coaches help unpack your intuitive responses and offer tools and accountability to rewire one’s self but the final actions and results solely depend on the client.
What is Core Energy Coaching™?
Our energy towards a situation, relationship, or event is always at play, but many of the factors impacting how we show up are unconscious. All ways of showing up serve us in some way: protect us, push us, drive us, inspire us, connect us. With Core Energy Coaching™ we look at:
How you are utilising your energy presently consciously and unconsciously
What other options you have in choosing your mindset and resulting actions differently
Uncover your intuitive responses and explore how to rewire habits to lead to the outcomes you want to see
